We were having the perfect little party.
Floating on the Norfolk Broads, drinks poured, cake sliced, celebrating my 4-year-old’s birthday on our rented boat.
When it was time to move on, we pulled up the anchor… but the boat wouldn’t budge.
We were completely stuck.
After a lot of confused pushing, pulling, and mild panic, we realized the problem—
We had unknowingly anchored on a sandbank.
What we hadn’t considered? This part of the Broads was tidal.
So, there we were, stranded—until the river police came to tow us off.
Humiliating. But lesson learned:
Sometimes, you don’t know what’s keeping you stuck.
