Meet Stubborn
During the creation of Treacle Free Life Studio, a persona slowly emerged.
Someone who trundles through the world always taking the hardest possible route.
Meet the chaosShe cannot see the wood for the trees.
She is a bit of a hoarder, cannot see the wood for the trees, never takes advice, and is entirely convinced her method is correct.
In fairness, there may have been an unfortunate incident in Sussex when she was about ten, involving an oblong brick landing on her bonce… and things were never quite the same afterwards.
There is just so much we can learn from her higgledy-piggledy existence.
She accidentally became one of the recurring characters inside Treacle Free because, quite honestly, there is just so much we can learn from her gloriously higgledy-piggledy existence.
Stubborn has habits she believes save time — but somehow create even more faff instead.
She is deeply set in her ways and there is absolutely nothing any sane person can do to change her mind.
Hence, rather than choosing a real girls’ name and accidentally offending somebody, I decided to simply call her…
Her long-suffering partner is equally unusual.
Let’s call him Swampie.
Why?
Because Swampie never wants to socialise, leave the house, decorate, improve anything, or really do very much at all.
He is perfectly content sitting in the same chair in a little house last decorated sometime around the invention of sliced bread.
They inhabit a world full of clutter, mystery boxes and utterly baffling decisions.
There are many useful lessons.
Somehow, within all that chaos, there are many useful lessons about overwhelm, habits, money, time, clutter, organisation and the strange things humans do to make life harder than it needs to be.
Their stories are both hilarious and strangely thought-provoking at the same time.
Which is precisely why they keep appearing in Treacle Free.
