Gorgeous, simple, effective

I saw a talented lady post on social media a whole thread of colourful buttercream cakes.

The thing is this.

They were all a tray bake plus 6 matching cupcakes. The buttercream in varying swirls were all gorgeous colours and everything harmonised.  There was a simple name on the centre of the team bake.  These were all presented in a box that would gave held 12 cupcakes.

The poster said this design was singularly her most popular design and she sells a lot.

So my question is this.

Have you crafted a signature design that is a relatively quick design to make?  Something that there can never be a huge discussion about toppers, layers, tiers, or elements to add?

If you have something gorgeous and simple but effective on your range priced so you make money for your time, plus the customer gets a cake for their celebration, it's win win all around.

I know we adore being creative with large tiered cakes and cut and carved novelty cakes too.  But sometimes if you can craft a gorgeous signature design which is simple to bake and decorate at a reasonable cost you may find more orders to fill your empty baking slots.

It's definitely a different kind of customer who will have a small tray bake a 6 matching cupcakes.  And if someone is only having a tiny family gathering, this size is perfect.

Something to think about.
