About Karen
Karen J. MacFadyen is a devoted mom, award winning and successful business coach in the UK, and established cake decorator with sugar craft certification from City & Guilds.
Whilst studying cake decorating Karen made many wedding and novelty cakes for customers, but realized that having been taught the creative skills – how to be a successful business was never part of any sugar craft course that she took.
Originally starting in small business in admin/accounts management, ten years later Karen began a hobby of sugar crafting, and studied at sugar craft classes. Requests from customers for her creations arrived constantly and she realised that she needed to change her hobby of cake decorating into an official business. This ultimately lead her to gain her City & Guilds certification which increased her confidence with her craft skills. Fortunately for Karen the small business skills gained from her admin/accounts management work stood her in good stead to help her with the business skills required to run her own cake decorating business.
After divorcing her partner and becoming a single mom, Karen used Creative Visualization (specifically the teachings of Shakti Gawain) to identify and execute her goals on a timeline. Luckily, she saw that her many years of business experience as well as owning her own coaching business, could be used in a way to help other sugar crafters build a thriving business from the hobby that they love. She was able to thrive as a business owner and purchase the house of her dreams, right on schedule.
With a unique and powerful combination of knowledge, skills and experience Karen set about passing on her systems to cake decorators, either just starting out or needing guidance to move their cake businesses forward.
Today Karen brings a unique blend of creativity and logic into her products and this allows her to offer a direct and practical approach to the sugar craft industry. She hopes her journey will inspire others to reach their full potential. To read her full story in her own words, click here.
